Will *everyone* hear? (was Re: Death Penalty)

Dear All,

I don't want to get heavily wrapped up in this discussion, but
this discussion seems to have taken a recent tangent I have a comment
for.

With regard to the question of whether or not *everyone* in the entire
world will have heard the gospel before the rapture --AND-- if not,
what will God's judgement be?

I have to ask, what of the indiginous peoples and tribes that are so
isolated that explorers have only just discovered them this year?
(There are some, I recently saw a report in Reader's Digest about one
such tribe.) How on Earth could these people, who have never even
seen ten miles from their home possibly know about God or the Gospel?

As missionaries can tell, it is extremely difficult to communicate the
Gospel to these people as they cannot comprehend the concept of even a
single God, let alone Acts 2:38.

My point is, there are hundred's of tribes who haven't even been
discovered yet, how could they know of Christ?
I think God would be truly cruel if he did not extend mercy to these
truly ignorant people, but that is just my opinion.

Also, what about profoundly retarded individuals who cannot comprehend
language in general, how could they be held accountable for their
salvation? (I know that some can know the gospel, we have one in my
church--he is not profoundly retarded, he has Downe's Syndrome.)

These individuals are as innocent as babes, yet there are some people
on this list who (without solid Biblical proof as I can see) assume
that they all will be condemned to Hell because they haven't followed
Acts 2:38 and that's that. Don't get me wrong, I do understand the
difference between knowing-and-rejecting versus never-being-exposed.

If I am truly and completely off-base, here, please let me know, but I
don't see God being that cruel to the truly ignorant.

Anneliese
