The Boston Musuem of Science had a display of them doing this very thing
and told how if the reporter had blue eyes then it seemed as if his head
were hollow. They had special contacts for such cases. Blue stripes in
the kids of the audience yielded similiar results with a moving "live
map" super imposed not only directly behind them but also on the bands of
blue on their shirt. Hollywood also did this in reverse and made a few
invisible man movies and the snippets were shown how the man then
appeared to disappear by disrobing. I do not know if the exhibits hall
still has these exhibits but have noticed lately ( I pass the Musuem
every day on the way to work) that there is now a Omnimax film on Special
Effects.
