This is true even with very well known religious leaders.  My wife
used to attend Bro. Sizemore's (ALJC) church in Cincinnati Ohio before
we met.  Her brother goes there today.  Several years ago, they took
part in a major church gathering with a number of other churches in
the area on the subject of the family and marriage.  Dr. James Dobson,
of "Focus on the Family" radio show fame, was one of the principal
speakers.  After the conference, Bro. Sizemore drove him to the
airport.  He used the time in the car to witness to Dr. Dobson, and to
explain the oneness of God.  Dr. Dobson admitted that he understood
it, and even believed it, but he could not openly profess it or teach
it without alienating his audience.
