* What was John the Baptist's father's name? What was Isaac's father's name?
* What was Jacob's father's name? You can see this wrong or we would all be
* named Adam for crying out loud!
What's wrong? The claim that the SON received his name from the FATHER.
That the SON's inherited name is Jesus. And if the inheritee's name is
Jesus then the inheritor's name is Jesus too? Mary didn't pick a name out
of the blue to name her Son. Joseph certainly didn't pick out a name either.
Neither was the child named after the llineage of Joseph. The name is clearly
from heaven.
* "Who is he that overcometh save he that believeth that Jesus is the Christ,
* the Son of God?" "These things are written that ye may believe that Jesus is
* the Son of God and that believing, ye woul dhave life through his name." We
* must believe in the name of Jesus who is the Son of God, yes. But that is
* all the Bible asks us to confess of his identity at this time. No more, no less.
That's right. We aren't *required* to know more. It's not like God is holding
a gun to our heads and trying to force the knowledge of his name upon all of us.
It's what I would call "a wonderful nugget" of biblical truth that opens up
the meaning of scripture moreso than just common biblical knowledge.
* Your teachers were incompetent? Look up "YHWH" in the Catechism index, it
* says, "see Jesus". Also notice the entry in the book of Mormon index where
* it says, "Jesus Christ: see also God of Israel, Creator, Redeemer, etc." In
* fact, the book of Mormon says that Jesus is the Father because he is the
* Spirit who made the flesh, and the Son because while he lived in the flesh
* he obeyed the Father! These are not new ideas.
Obviously they aren't as Solomon says: "There is no new thing under the Sun
(Son)." But for a catholic to realize that Jesus is YHWH in the flesh is
a concept that I'm not sure happens. I grew up believing that the godhead
was separate (Father, Son, Holy Ghost, Virgin Mary (as mother of heaven))
and at any one time they could call a conference amongst themselves to have
a meeting. Where each one would have a different voice/personality that
is brought to the round table. As a oneness apostolic, I realize that Jesus
is YHWH in the flesh and the Holy Ghost is the same spirit of God poured out
to NT saints that covered the face of the deep in Genesis 1. The only
difference between Gen 1 (Spirit) and the Holy Ghost is that the H.G. was
that which gave a human life (in Jesus) during YHWH's personal ministry on
earth. At calvary, the human gave up the (Holy) Ghost and now YHWH had
tasted of death. Upon the resurrection of Jesus, YHWH had tasted of renewal
of life. To me, the Holy Ghost is the spirit of YHWH that has tasted of
human life, death, and resurrection. The Spirit (in Gen 1) hadn't
experienced the likes of such before. The FATHER (spirit of Gen 1) prior to
the sonship, had not ever experienced life in this manner. This explains why
as the high priest he is touched by our infirmities and feelings. Because
he's been there. He's had them. Jesus doesn't have to tell his dad: "Gee,
Dad.... Tyler feels this way because of what I remember what back when
_________________." God personally remembers these feelings as he personally
went through this too...
* Like I said, look it up for yourself. You can see the Catholic confession
* that Jesus is the OT God come in flesh in the famous _New Jerome Biblical
* Commentary_, which, BTW, is indespensible.
Sorry, but I've not Catholic or Mormon literature to look anything up.
