No... because when the 30 days are up... the program is completely
unusable. You only get a registration screen. To get CRT back, you
need to re-install it -or- you need to register it. Being as I'm not
going to put my *ware on their machines, I didn't register any software
that they've not purchased or licensed.

I remember the first time it "ran-out" on me. I asked one of the guys
that has a lot to do with our tucows site and he said just go back out
to the site, download a new copy, and install it and I'd be back in
business. No harm. No foul.

Sometimes the shareware version of software is date coded that expires
every so often. Maybe three or four releases a year. Same version but
with different expiration dates. If I used the downloadable setup.exe
long enough it might very well have become unusable as it might have
date restrictions as well.

So.... they finally bought a licence to it, and gave me a key to unlock
the registration of the software so that I wouldn't be harassed by the
monthly cycle of keeping a copy of the config file then re-installation,
then putting the config file back....

The MS windoze version of telnet (telnet.exe) is really o.k. for just
regular connections, but it's really lame as a working tool. One of
the project managers saw how I was going through one of my monthly "hoops"
to get CRT back in operation (about a 3 minute process) and was annoyed
that I was content with the current process of re-installation month after
month.

I'm simply telling of the experience ... not confessing wrongdoing...
I believe I operated lawfully within the boundaries. The software company
made the money they wanted and I got a un-expiring telnet program....
eventually.
