Bro. this is personal opinon (aint that what most of this forum is anyway :o) )
We are not perfect, we are striving for perfection but will never get there!
Your forgiveness is to be commended. Forgiveness is a tough pill to swallow
sometimes, very tough. And as Christians it is our duty. But what of
forgetting? This is what the remission of sin is about, we are not the Lord -
remissoin is through His blood. Thus we can not totally forget (beign flesh and
all) and I am not sure that in some cases we should. Forgetting often turns off
our personal warning system, it prevents us from allowing things to hurt us
again. Like I told a member of the youth class...the Bible says forgive, the
Bible says turn the other check, but it does not say stand there and take more!
Learning from our expereince is part of our walk, part of the maturing process
and part of our survival.
Someone once told me that if you don't trust a person you have not forgiven
them, but I feel that you can forgive (even be nice to people) without
forgetting what they did. I was wronged by a few men early in my walk and really
angered me, but as time passed the forgiveness became forgetfulness. Bro. don't
let the enemy beat you up over this, he will us it to make you question your
walk and your own salvation....rebuke those those thoughts. You forgive the
person and move on. If they are not trustworthy then so be it..being a Christian
is not akin to being stupid. As time passes you will forget, the Holy Ghost
helps us daily with our "perfection" and He will help you with this. You know
the men that wronged me....one is a dear brother now (2 years later).
Lord Bless;
