Forgiveness and Forgetting

I've been considering lately the relationship between forgiveness and =
forgetting. I have recently come through an excruciatingly painful =
spiritual experience, and I believe I have forgiven the brother who =
seemed bent on my ruination. However, I do not forget and would never =
put myself in a position again to be victimised like that.
Is it true forgivenenss if I cannot over-ride these defensive feelings =
concerning the individual? Because God forgets, are we to forget as =
well?
Any comments?
