Which is why we need to search the scriptures on this subject.

The OT tithe is just as you describe: mandatory, but there is no NT
equivalent. The Early Church did not tithe, plain and simple. They gave
what we would call "love offerings", but there is no proof of the
continuation of the OT tithe.

Did you read Sis Yohnk's excellent post describing the different types of
tithings? Why only are we told to do ONE of them and ignore the other
two? If we are really going to continue the OT tithing, we are in
serious trouble. If NOT, then we have to admit to a change, which begs
the questions:

1) WHEN did such a change occur?
2) WHO made such a change
3) WHAT were the limits or additions of the change?
4) DID this person have SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY to make such a change?

>If the disciples sold everything and had all things in common (Acts 2)

When it says "the disciples" it doesn't mean the entire Church at that
time. There were many Churches who did NOT sell everything and live in
such a community. Did they tithe? There is no evidence of it; they
usually met in other saints' houses.

Not in the NT it can't. Remember, in the NT, >>WE<< are the Temple; what
has been referred to here as "The Church" is only the building where the
Church meets.
