You:
Didn't you know the law was ended by Christ, including tithing (Romans
10:4)?
Me:
Really? I thought the Law was FULFILLED in Christ! ;-) Therefore the
sabbath, the tithes and all that (including crucifixtion for sins ;-) would
then be in Christ. Hmmm... That would mean that HE would be the One to
whom we would then give a tenth of ALL INCREASE...
John 21
8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from
land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there,
and fish laid thereon, and bread.
10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
Soo... They take in a haul of fish and Jesus asks them to bring of the fish
they have just caught BUT He ***already*** has breakfast waiting. Why then
does He ask of the catch if He doesn't NEED the fish for breakfast???
11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an
hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the
net broken.
This verse in the Greek means that they divided 153 fish. Why on Earth
would they record the number??? There is absolutely NO significance to the
number 153, unless....
IF the fish Jesus asked for were a tithe, then the 153 fish would be what
the others divided after the 10% came off the top or in math 153 = .90 Whole
Catch. When one does the math you get a total of 170 fish. One hundred is
the number of maximum increase and 70 is the number of God ordained rule by
men under God on the Earth.... ;-)
Abram gave a tithe of all that was an increase. He lived on this wealth
until he recieved the payments from the pharoah and the like BUT those were
re-embursments for the 'use' of his wife....
Since Jesus is not here on the Earth, we give the tithe to the "body of
Christ" in His stead.
1 Peter 2
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath
called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
It is for the maintenance of the priesthood/body. Those who commit their
lives to service to the body are to live of the harvest and the remainder is
to pay expenses and relieve the poor and sick...
