Tithes and Offerings

I would question the applicability to OT writings on tithes and offerings
and the NT Church. Obviously, a NT Temple was never counted on because
we ARE the Temple, so

Good study effort, btw. I didn't want you to think that I ignored what
appears to be a post that took some considerable thought and time.
>The tithe actually belongs to the Lord.
I would agree, but where is the tithe in the NT?
>30 And all the tithe of the land, [whether] of the seed of the

It is scriptural for the LEVITES to have the tithe. I know of no
scripture that gives the tithe to Pastors specifically, or really of any
NT scripture that mandates tithing.
>It is also a New Testament doctrine:
>
> 13 Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat [of]
>the things of the temple, [and] they that wait upon the altar have
>their portion with the altar? 14 Even so did the Lord ordain that
>they that proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel .
>1 Cor. 9:13-14
But is this mandating a tithe or just recognizing that at the time the
Apostles basically were given "love offerings" as they went along.
Remember, Paul was a tent maker.
And this is such a serious subject that I don't want to give anyone a
wrong impression. I believe that tithes are essential for the Church
building and to help keep the Pastor from having to do extra work. A
full time Pastor is a blessing indeed, but I don't believe that in those
Churches where the tithe is not enough to support a Pastor that they are
sinning, or that God hasn't called the Pastor there because the tithe is
not enough to sustain him, as one Pastor was said to believe.
>If a pastor has other hired help in the church, it would stand to

I would agree, but I believe that the tithes and offerings to the Church
are different now than they were in the OT. WE are the Temple of the
Holy Ghost, not the building. That said, I do understand the necessity
to giving to your Church. I just don't believe that tithing and
offerings are in effect as they were in the OT, else, we would be giving
the example the brother said earlier; the males would give (in American
Dollars equivalence) one shekel every year for the maintenance of the
Church as well as all the other types of offerings.
But that is never brought up. Just the basic tithe and a "generic
offering".

Is there anywhere online I could read/research it?
