You:
Here's a challange..... Lets study it out.... People say Yeah and Nah...
There has to be truth out there....
So what do you say. I can be wrong, have been wrong, and will be wrong in
the future. So lets go for a Bible study on-line. Group study... No personal
opinions. No name callings, just Bible... Ok...
Me:
This is the confirmation I was looking for. I will answer this one tomorrow
and then I am outta here. ;-)
The issue never was divorce. It is divorce with the right in the eyes of
God to remarry. Anyone can leave a spouse, even for life, but they must
remain faithful to that marriage with only one exception: Death. I will go
into why those who commit adultery are dead to the marriage as well as
"heathen" spouses. ;-)
Real quick comment on the "one wife" restriction for Elders and such...
What if a faithful Christian Elder's wife dies? Is he then to live
unmarried? Must he then become "uncalled of God"? That passage does not
mean what people think it means. In the day it was written, men could have
as many wives as they could afford. Paul tells these and all the rest to
"abide as they were called". This means that if a man had ten wives when he
got saved, he was to keep then and "seek not to be freed". Those who had
only one wife were not to seek anymore, nor were those with many wives to
seek more wives. Those with many wives were not to hold church offices.
;-) It had NOTHING to do with divorce and remarriage since those who
remarried outside of the Lord were PUT OUT OF THE CHURCH for adultery!
That's the whole point I am trying to make. ;-)
