EXCELLENT POINT!  But you have to realize what KIND of war we are in; in
the sense that we are soldiers fighting in the field, we are fighting
against the DEVIL, not against other humans.  In fact, to other humans,
using your analogy of war, we are spies in the land of the unbelievers. 
The Devil is Hitler and we are undercover, trying to convert as many
Nazis as we can to deliver them from The Devil's fate when the U.S. comes
crashing in.

Our WAR is with Satan.  Our MISSION is to convert as many Nazi's as we
can before the Reich falls.

But how many people will not be there because they thought that they had
defied the Will of God, only to find out that they had only "defied" the
will of the Pastor that literally had nothing to do with salvation?  

Unnecessary stumblingblocks are not needed.  Times are hard enough.
