Greetings Saints in Jesus name!
Things are a hopping and a shaking on Higher-Fire these days.
Bro Richard is heavily involved in working with the company that
has bought out Central Data of Champaign, IL. As a result, there's
little or no time that he's been able to help out in the duties
necessary as a owner/moderator.
Bro Brian Berger ... a seasoned moderator that's had much hardware/OS
problems as of late has had to take a sabbatical for a season while he
had commitments through the summer and early fall.... From what I
understand, his return as a owner/moderator will occur sometime in the
next few weeks/weekends. That'll be a big help.... then.
Which leaves me. I'm absolutely swamped with work right now at Macmillan
Computer Publishing with the re-launch of our website http://www.mcp.com
as the Sr Programmer Analyst of Macmillan Online ... -and- ... with helping
out Bro Robert J Brown III getting new webserver software installed and
running on www.elilabs.com so that that machine can host virtual domains.
Which ... if'n ya'll want a sneak peak at it, currently the new Apache 1.3
software is running at elilabs.com on port 8001. If you want to go to the
Higher-Fire archives, the old really long URL will get you there for the
time being, but a newer *virtual* directory has been made on the Apache
server making it easier than ever to get to the H-F archives (at least on
port 8001) ...
http://www.elilabs.com:8001/h-f
http://www.elilabs.com:8001/higher-fire
... either one will work just fine. Sometime soon, Bro Brown is going to
deactivate the NCSA web server software on port 80 (which is the normal http
port that web servers listen to) and then startup Apache on it instead.
Plus, I'm kinda gearing up on a project with Bro Brown that's coming up
that'll be needing more of my attention that'll take even more of my time.
Plus there's work at church (keeping all of the computers at church happy)
as well as helping out in other ways... well... it just doesn't leave a
whole lot of time for me to approve/discard posts that are coming in from
you folks.
Matter of factly.... over the last 10 days or so, I've rarely been the one
to actually carry out the task of much post approval and discardation because
I've been breaking in a new owner/moderator to help out with the load as I'm
not able to devote the expressed time required to completely fulfill the
duties of moderator ... efficiently. It's not that I can't give time to
moderation, I'm just not as available as I'd like to be in order to really
the serve the list properly.
So ... as it is ... in needing help in the moderation field, there was a
saint on the list that has volunteered his effort and time to help out in
any way that is possible. It's o.k. with his work that he receives the
extra e-mail. It's o.k. with his wife and pastor as well. With those kinds
of o.k.'s I just can't ignore it, I've got to put 'im to work.
So... with that kind of introduction..... I now introduce to you a new
owner/moderator of Higher-Fire that has all authority in getting people
subscribed and removed (he can send the commands in to carry the task out)
as well as approving and discarding posts. As well as the scruitiny needed
to fairly judge a post in what it's saying before it's allowed to be sent on
to everybody on the list. As well as the need sometimes to send your posts
back and ask ya'll if "did you really mean that?" -or- "I don't think that
Higher-Fire is the place to post something personal like that..." etc.
Ya know 'im, ya love 'im, ya want to give him a big Holy Ghost hug... let's
hear it for Bro Kirk Moore ..... [clapping, clapping, praising God for the
extra help he's brought me with Higher-Fire \o/ ... ]. You can reach him
at one/both of two e-mail addresses (depending on what time of day you
send him something) ....
Kirk.Moore@PSS.Boeing.com -or- kmoore@aa.net
.... I imagine that he'll respond from the Boeing e-address more likely
in the 9am - 5pm Pacific timeslot and he'd be available at the aa.net
time most all the other time.... just guessing.
Welcome him as owner/moderator and treat him kindly.
Bro Tyler
