Holiness Standards

I have seen people who keep "high" standards above all reproach,
but in talking to that person found out that they resented having to do
it. I don't believe that God honors an ugly spirit no matter what you do
or abstain from doing for the sake of standards.
This discussion makes me think of a story that my pastor told
years ago.
An old black servant was feeding the pigs one day when his master
came by the pig pen. Hearing the old man sing joyously of heaven while
surrounded by such filth puzzled the lord of the manor. He asked the old
man mockingly "What do you have to do to get in this Heaven you sing
about?" The servant stopped and thought for a
minute, seeing the rich man's arrogance. He finally replied "Yous hasta
get down here and roll yoself 'round in this here mud hole an den the
good Lord will let you in dem pearly gates." The master looked at him in
disgust and said
" So that is your God's requirement?" The wise old man looked at him and
with a big smile answered " naw sur, but
you gotta be willin' "
Attitude is everything in salvation! ANYTHING that you are not
willing to give up or do to be saved becomes a SIN to you. If Jesus who
was without sin had to give his LIFE then we had better be willing to do
anything to be saved. If you are not THAT willing then you might as well
stock up on fire extinguisher
The bible says to see out our own salvation with FEAR and
TREMBLING. I believe that after someone follows the plan for salvation in
Acts 2 then they have to seek the Lord for the rest.
