Righteousness!

If I had zero knowledge of religion, I'd not have any idea what you're
talking about.  That tells me *about* it, but it doesn't define what
righteousness is.

This is a really difficult thing to explain when we know all of the defined
terms and glossary that goes along with it.  How is *righteousness*
'splained
when the learnee/student has no knowledge of the subject?

Me:
Righteousness is doing what you were created to do.  God created you to do
certain things a certain way; His Way, and if you don't do them, He steps in
and gives you a chance to correct them.  To be righteous, one need only let
God 'fix' them when they are "out of adjustment".  The only way to do this
is through first being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ who IS the
Ruler (pun intended ;-) by which all others are measured.  To be unrighteous
is to be unlike Him.  To be righteous is to get like Him.  You begin this
process by being conformed to His image of death by repentance and death to
your old self.  You then conform to His image of burial by baptism in His
name, at which time the blood is 'applied' and your sins are paid for.  You
then get conformed to the image of His resurrection by receiving His Very
Spirit to live in you and guide you into all Truth, Jesus being the Truth.
You stay on course by taking communion and by continual confession of your
sins which causes the price of the shed blood to be applied to you for those
sins commited after baptism.  You must then do what God has planned for you
and live to do good works; not that you are saved by these works, but all in
Christ are saved for them.  Righteousness is just allowing God to mold you
to the Image of His Son, which is Himself manifested in the flesh.
