I believe that your problem is that 'right' is not clearly defined in
your mind or you find it difficult to explain because many will argue:
"What is right ?" It is after all subjective in todays moral
relativistic society.

The concept of 'rightness' is actually inherent in the term
righteousness, and I was permitted in school to define words through the
use of it's root. That is, you can go a long way to understand a word
through understanding the word's origin and properly defining the root
word.

Righteousness (N) is a quality or state of being and not merely outward
acts. God will weigh every deed by the outward act and the inward
motive. It is God's way of doing and being right and as such begins with
a knowledge of God.

Bro. Vermillion

Jesus is the master teacher and could instruct at any level be they
children or sophisticated intellectuals.. (philosophers and engineers
included) Yet the most profound truths of scripture often are the most
easily explained.

I believe the problem really comes when we do not convey spiritual
truths using spiritual words and use terminology that is not
emphatically stated or which is not defined through consistent Biblical
principles.

>when the learnee/student has no knowledge of the subject?

I realize that the recipient may have zero knowledge of the Bible that
is awesome, for then there is no previous indoctrination and false
teachings to be overcome. For the most difficult people to reach are
those who consider themselves spiritual.. yet they are without the
Spirit ~ see Romans 8:9.

They are then a blank slate, that is an awesome opportunity and
obligation to show the the definition of these Biblical concepts
directly from the scriptures. We need to let them see that we rest on
the authority of the Word of God.

Righteousness is simply put 'God's way of doing and being right'. Well,
what is right ?

Prov 16:2
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth
the spirits.

It must of necessity begin and abide in the Word of God, but that is not
the only classroom of righteousness. The receiving of the Holy Ghost, we
are told in the scriptures is 'being made a partaker of God's Divine
nature'.

2 Pet 1:4
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that
by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.

This is an essential part of this new and everlasting covenant that God
has made in his blood. A vital principle to also to understand with
regard to righteousness as 'God's way of doing and being right' that it
will come through the knowledge of the LORD which obviously begins
through the preaching/teaching of the Word of God. The Lord said that in
that day He would write it in our hearts~ Amen I like that !

Jer 31:33-34
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their
inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and
they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man
his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the
least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will
forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Heb 8:10-11
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind,
and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they
shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his
brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to
the greatest.

It is also through the blood of Jesus that we are made Righteous and
sanctified ~ 'set apart to the service of God'

Read:

Heb 13:20-21
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord
Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the
everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you
that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom
be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

This is by no means an exhaustive study on the subject, but I believe
that it is a start toward the Biblical concept of righteousness.

It is the Spirit of Truth that will lead and guide us into all Truth.
After all at a particular time Jesus had much to tell his disciples, but
they could not then bear it. Let's see them receive the Holy Ghost.. and
then that anointing and unction will instruct and teach them to abide in
Him.

I Jn 2:27
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and
ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth
you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath
taught you, ye shall abide in him.

In Jesus,

He is True God and eternal life,
