I have a problem with a so-called Christian musical group that you can't
tell the girls from the guys. And I don't condemn any music because of
its style, but I believe that if you can't understand the lyrics of a
supposed Christian song, what good does it do to have a catchy beat?

Let's name names; Amy Grant, Michael English (I was VERY hurt by this
one; I followed Mike since his early days with the Singing Americans and
the Goodmans), Russ Taff, Michael W. Smith for awhile (although his last
couple of albums have returned to a Christian theme, especially "LIVE THE
LIFE".) I have always been impressed by Carman. I don't like some of
his hip-hop style music, but there is never compromise with the message
and some of his music is deeply moving.
If I may dare to recommend some of my favorite Contemporary Christian
songs, they would be (in no particular order):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just about ANYTHING by KEITH GREEN...but especially:
* Asleep in the Light (EVERY Christian should hear this song...)
* Altar Call (live version)
* The Prodigal Son Suite (sometimes I can listen to this song ten times
in a row!)
* My Eyes are Dry
* To Obey is Better Than Sacrifice
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
MICHAEL W. SMITH:
* How Long Will Be Too Long? (I would challenge EVERY Christian to listen
to this)
* Give it Away (excellent!)
* Live the Life
* The Throne (POWERFUL! especially the ending with the "angel praise"!)
* Straight To the Heart
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CARMAN:
* America Again
* The Third Heaven
* Come Into This House
* Serve The Lord (except for the minor Trinity phrase, excellent)
* The Champion (the best produced song I have ever heard; VERY complex!)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Various: (Artist, Title)
*Steve Taylor, "The Finish Line"
* Gaither Vocal Band, "A Few Good Men"
*Shelia Walsh, "Hope For the Hopeless"
* Russ Taff, "I Still Believe", "Were You There?"
* Second Chapter of Acts, "It Is Well With My Soul"
* Michael English, "Heaven", "Message of Mercy"
* Steven Curtis Chapman, "Way Beyond The Blue"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RECOMMENDED ALBUMS (Artist/Title of Album or CD)
* Keith Green, "No Compromise" (EXCELLENT!)
* Carman, "The Absolute Best"
* Russ Taff, "Russ Taff" (So he's not shy)
* Michael English, "Michael English" (These guys like naming their albums
after themselves)
* Michael W. Smith " The First Decade"
* Russ Taff, "Under Their Influence"
This is, of course not a complete list, but what I could muster up in a
few minutes.
