Let me let YOU in on a little secret:  There  ARE  Churches  where  the
Pastor  has out  and out told people  who have to  move for  reasons of
jobs, etc., that THEIR Church is the only one where that person can get
to Heaven from.

And some people are intimidated enough to  stay  when  they  have  been
called elsewhere because of these type tactics.

Robert McLaughlin observes:

I experienced this first hand at the  church  we  attended  during  the
80's.    When we decided to move back to Southern California the pastor
expressed his concern  that  we  would  attend  a  liberal  church  and
eventually lose our salvation.    I got the distinct impression that he
thought all of the churches down here were "liberal."

It can't be underestimated the psychological power that the pastor  has
over his followers.
