At THIS Church, at the time, besides the songs in the hymnals, that was
the ONLY "authorized" music allowed. Contemporary artists like Sandi
Patti were even frowned upon.

No, this Church was in Central Illinois, but it WAS in the mid 80's.
They have since "fallen prey to the lust of contemporary Christian music"

:) Have you ever heard some of the music from the Alexandria La choir?
They have one that would have sent me to Hell in the 80's called "Mercy
Killing". I gotta admit, I love it, though.
