There was a time when I only had a moustache ... April 85 - May 88 when
I was employed at P.A.M. (next to Chanute AFB). They said that to get a
paying job there, the moustache could stay in the Air Force community, but
the beard had to go. To me, that was the difference between having income
and not having income. We started coming to church shortly after that.

The first time was an Easter program (skit). The next time was a youth
service of some sort. After that, we babysat for Bro Boone and Sis Karen
as they attended Bro Rich Martin and Sis Sarah Zook's marrage for a couple
of hours. I got the Holy Ghost in a rally in Carmargo, IL. Me and the
Mrs got baptized in Jesus name on Fathers day of that year (June 16, 1985).

After that, we had a pretty large part in helping build the new
church bulding. I helped carry the massive rolls of insulation up to the
top of the building so that the metal building wouldn't be a sauna. They
called me "bananna man" because they were about 8 feet wide and about 3
feet in diameter when they were rolled up. I imagine they unfurl to about
8 - 12 feet long. When the building was finished, I was chosen to lead
the first official church service type prayer on ... I think ... Dec 5,
1985.

When employment of P.A.M. ceased in 1988 (May), there wasn't anybody that
said I couldn't grow my beard back (and my wife really likes the looks of
it better anyway ... says it hides my baby face and doesn't feel like she's
kissing a boy) ... including the pastor.... so I grew it back. Have had it
on ever since with the exception of a time when I got so anxious in trimming
it that I had to shave it off completely because I made so many bad mistakes.
