Sis:
To someone like this, I wouldn't explain righteousness, I'd demonstrate
it. Obviously the guy could care less about my definitions. He wants to
see righteousness in me. I would do it by treating him respectably
knowing that if he tried to treat me unrespectably that there would be a
good chance he was just testing the waters to see if I was real. He'd
get it after a while. Maybe then he would be interested in my
definition. And men like this respect women who don't wear make-up,
pants, jewelry and immodest clothing.
Me:
With all due respect, nonsense. I WAS one of these guys. I thought Bro.
Tyler was talking about me. Really.
Know what I thought about women that went around dressed like Y'all. That a
tumble with a REAL man would change their minds. Know what? For some of
them it did... I would then see them try to act all "Holy" in front of
their friends and stuff and try to "convert" me. Made me sick. That's why
I stopped pursuing them. Oh, I ran into a few that were for real, thank
God, but the vast majority were "easy pickin's". You see what you want to
see in the churches, *I* have seen it from the other side. ;-) I was given
the opportunity to see some of the people who call themselves Holy when I
was 'no one' to worry about. I ahve seen the coverups and the way that the
higher ups hide the wrong done for the "greater good of the church."
<insert standard "not all churches are this way, but there is 'some' of it
in all churches" disclaimer>
I'll tell ya this too. The FUNNIEST thing I ever heard was these people who
sat in church from the time they were weened try to talk about what *I* felt
and thought!!! I used to roll around laughing!!! How could they know???
Wanna know why 'most' men of this *type* leave women alone that are dressed
like that? They don't find them attractive. Once you have that out of the
way, they will treat you like a person instead of a piece of meat...
It is God that changes people hearts. Nothing else. He does use the Word
to begin the process. If He had to rely on the opinion of the people about
the behavior of those who call themselves saints, it would be a sad day
indeed. Even the repented behavior of a True saint would be enough to 'nix'
the deal.
It is when they need help and see that we have gotten it ourselves that God
will start to change them. It is the effects of serving God in our lives
that is the real testimony. I don't have to preach change to people all day
long, I LIVE changed before them day in and day out. They can argue the
bible and do but NO ONE can deny the *miracle* of what God has done in my
life! No one, not even my worst enemies! THAT is my testimony.
None of what I have read is "Righteousness". Righteousness is a "Right
standing with God". It isn't doing those things that pleases God, it is
BEING pleasing before God! This comes from knowing when we have gotten
ourselves into a WRONG standing and then falling on our faces and REPENTING!
THAT is righteousness...
