Someone:
At a camp meeting in Saskatchewan a few years ago, the superintendent
>of a UPCI district in the U.S. delighted the crowd during a sermon as he
>proudly told them he had 60 black families in his church "and not a
mustache
>anywhere. Not one!"
>
>"Sixty Hispanics. Not a mustache anywhere!"
Me:
Is it just me or does the "pabulum" above just STINK of racism? Really....
Bro. Jerry:
But how many prayer warriors? It's too easy to clean up the outside and
"Pentecostalize".
Me:
Not important Dude, as long as they LOOKED Holy. It is God's concern on
whether their HEARTS are in the right place or not. It certainly isn't the
concern of the CHURCH. Or are you trying to introduce heresies here?
I mean really, the church can't just go around telling people that THEY are
responsible for their OWN behavior can they? You would have anarchy!!!
Think of it! People would study for themselves and reason in the Word and
before you knew it, there would be talk of, BRACE YOURSELVES AND
PLEASE LADIES, AVERT YOUR EYES, *freedom*. Sorry, but your
implications of casting off the yoke of submission that none could carry
forced my hand, and I had to use such STRONG language.
Before you know it, ministers would have to study the Bible and be
CORRECT before they could preach anywhere. Why, before anyone could
hold and keep an office, they would have to have the signs and wonders
following them that the Bible speaks of. Every member of the church would
be accountable to ANY OTHER member of the church for their behavior.
Worst of all, the whole church would be accountable for providing for the
needs of the individual!!!
The whole focus of the church would shift! Instead of trying to fill the
pews
at any cost to have the appearance of a huge following, we would be more
interested in the CONDITION of the few or many that filled them! Why the
only way anyone could tell that we were separate from the World at all would
be after close, intimate examination of our day to day lives. NONE of us
want ***THAT*** do we!
If we did things YOUR way, after the initial thrill of a new convert wore
off,
we would have to WORK with them to EDUCATE them as to what is
required for them to make it into Heaven! We would have to TOLERATE
their ignorance and their sinful ways until they had a REAL CHANGE OF
HEART. Have you any idea how much of the churches valuable resources
would be taken away from SOUL WINNING if we had to 'slow down' for
these people?
Are you insane?!?!?!?!? Organized religion AS WE KNOW IT would cease
to exist!!!!
