Thank You Bro. Bill,
This is what Sister Anne and I have tried to say but people continue to write
responses that show that they didn't get the point. When I write a response,
I try to put myself in the mind of the pero wrote the original response. I
try to see things from their point of view. People that are so stuck in their
traditional thinking will always be stunted in their understanding. I have
learned the most by listening to people who don't believe the same as me.
Sometimes my opinions are changed, and other times they are strengthened.
But people that just flippantly have a response for everything without even
taking the time to consider what was said, will never, ever grow in their
knowledge.
This is why I say we as Apostolics are failing to grow. I sent a point
that stated that we as Apostolics need to stop relaying the foundation that
was already layed but that we are to build upon that foundation. Some people
took that to mean that I want to stop preaching about the Apostolic doctrines
of salvation. But I never once said to stop preaching those things. I
realize that these things need to be rehearsed from time to time. The overall
gist of my writing was to say that we need to build on those things. Find new
ways of delivering that message. Spend time doing the things that Christ did
on earth. Stop catering to ourselves (the church) and start doing what
Christ said to do. Which is "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel"
"feed the the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick" This is what I said.
But people responded as if I was some backslidden heathen type person who
wants to destroy the foundation of the church.
It gets frustrating when people seem to not get the point. But I find
that many of us (apostolics) are like that. We are impatient and dont try to
understand what others are saying.
Bro. Bill, the best part of what you said was that we need to speak in
love. If we would do that (both speak and read in love) we wouldn't have as
much bickering, and we would come to some positive conclusions. We would
truly be able to unite. Because wetand more than just what was written but we
would understand why it was written.
God help to read and write these messages in the spirit of love.
