* For those not familiar with unix lingo, emacs is like an operating

* use a really cool nifty X11 GUI based mail reader called Z-Mail.

I'm not sure, but if emacs for Xwindow is installed correctly, the little
icon that shows at the bottom of the screen when running is that of a 
kitchen sink....  So, emacs might very well have a kitchen sink.

Z-mail sounds interesting.  I'm kinda like you in the fact that I'm a 
elm/elvis/vi bigot.  My X-window mailer is running elm inside of an xterm
after exporting the particulars about the terminal:

xterm -T "Tyler's MailBox" -e /usr/bin/elm 

that way I have both gui (with no buttons) plus elm at the same time.
