Everyone,
I just finished reading an awesome book about prayer: Rees Howell "Intercessor"
Its a biography written about Mr. Howells. This book clear illiterates what it takes to have a mountain moving faith-relationship with the Lord. Rees was part of the Great Welsh Revival that occurred around the turn of the century, he surrounded his Christian walk around the principal laid out in John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my word abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." Throughout the book Rees was quoted as saying "I must maintain my abiding in order to gain a place of intercession." To him this meant absolute obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Lord started by giving him a ministry to tramps ( AKA "street people" in Americans) and putting him on a Daniel type fast of cheese and soup, not the typical diet of a welsh coal miner! Next the Lord called him to a constant day long fellowship in prayer. Which meant that Rees could no longer wear a hat outside. Its was very uncouth thing for a British gentleman to be seen w!
ithout a Hat! Rees was very upset, but the Lord said that he was being worldly. Next the Lord put Rees on an open-ended Nazerite vow. Rees couldn't shave or cut his hair. This lasted for 6 months. When called to be a missionary to Africa, to Lord required him to give his new born son to foster parents. As a reward for his obedience he received 10,000 African souls. Latter he returned from Africa and the Lord used him to start a Bible College by purchasing 3 huge estates on faith. (Rees's son became part of the staff at the Bible College). Since their was no wealthy benefactors or endowment committees, the local news papers called it Gods College. Through out his life Rees never had any money. The Lord required him to live totally by faith. In fact the Lord would not even allow Rees to make his needs known to anyone. Rees couldn't tell a Soul about any need he had. He had to "Pray it In". Finances would often come in at the last minute. Once the Lord had Rees wa!
it in line at a ticket booth at a train station. When Rees was ab
person in front of him turned around and gave him the money for the Fair.
The last Sixty Pages are truly amazing. They cover the 15 year span from the pre-WWII unrest to the founding of Israel in 1948. The Lord used Rees and the Bible College for important spiritual warfare during critical times. They made history changing prayer! Hitler was filled with the Devil (No kidding!). The world owes this unknown band of Welshmen a priceless thanks for their obedience to God.
This is a must read book. I place this book in my top 10 list of Christian Books. It is power packed! I'll post the name of the publisher tomorrow.
