<< How we as a people understand language changes can "only" and I want to
emphasize the point "only" is by geographical distance change over time. Its
the only intelligent answer! >>
It could have happened something like this...
Acts 2:2-4
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat
upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Or maybe it was like this....
Num 22:30
30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast
ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto
thee? And he said, Nay.
I have been reading lately about Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark fame.
Although they kept very accurate journals on their expedition there are
things that happened and things they did that we can only guess how they were
accomplished because they were not described in those journals. However we do
know there was a process, none of those things just happened.
With God it is different. God is not bound by the physical laws of this
universe. Thus a "process" is not required. He can merely speak worlds into
existence, he can cause flesh to tread on the waves.
To state that "A rapid plate tectonic shift" is the only intelligent answer
for the diversity of the languages is (in my opinion) something less
than.......(I can't think of the word I want here) ....( actually I thought
of several)
