In a message dated 97-07-27 01:03:56 EDT, you write:
<< You:
You are correct in stating that it is not only the PAW that
suffers from the liberal demise. >>
Me:
As a member of the PAW for over 20 years, and as an ordained minister, I
receive the Official Minute Book of the PAW each year, and have seen nothing
coming down from the Board of Bishops that indicates, promotes, or condones
anything less than *true* holiness as taught by the Word of God. Perhaps you
have access to PAW documents that I do not, and can shed some additional
light on the subject for us.
You:
<<In my experience, the largest threat to the PAW is that they
have made the *requirements*, usually at the pastoral level, so
strict that many young ministers do not wish to participate.>>
Me:
Which requirements are you referring to? If you refer to licensing
requirements, visit our website Still under construction) at:

As an approved Bible Institute, we offer the required courses of study for
licensing and ordination for ministers. Applicants MUST be baptized in Jesus'
name, filled with the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues,
live a holy life, have their applications signed by their Pastor and District
Elder, be a member in good standing of a PAW church, and complete the
required course of study (3 months for licensing, 6 months for ordination).
After this, their applications for credentials must be authorized by the
Bishop of the Diocese. Not too strict, when you consider it takes about 8
years of study and 2 years of internship to become a doctor, 6 years of
study, and 1 year internship to become a licensed psychologist, etc. but only
12 weeks of study to become a licensed minister (the highest calling on this
earth).
You:
<<Couple this with the nearly total *disregard for the young people*
until now except to tell tham what they can and cannot do
without giveing them the benefit of the "reasons" for this and
the definate "wrong approach" of trying to over compensate by
"luring" the kids into the "services" where they have the
"appearance" of worship without the benefit of *doctrine* or real
"substance.">>
Me:
Our ministry is centered aroud the young people. Our young folks are taught
during Bible Study from the same book (Fundamentals of the Apostolic Faith)
that we use to train our ministers. I say, without hesitation, that I have an
11 year old in my congregation who can state the Biblical and Apostolic
position on doctrine better than a lot of ministers (you pick the
denomination). When he's done, he can hit his knees, and cry out to God with
tears rolling down his cheeks (a humble spirit before God).
At a recent church anniversary, the Bishop (PAW) from Milwaukee sent his
*youth choir* to sing. They came in a beautiful bus that was bought for them
to travel around the country singing praises to God. No "Snoop Doggy Dog "
there! I first met this Bishop 15 years ago, and I know his stance that his
people are not going to sing songs with *no Biblical basis.*
You:
<<I *hear* of "praise and worship" meetings where these kids whoop
and shout and dance (not Holy dancing either) and then they all
LEAVE when it comes time for the Word. They listen to the music
in the meeting well enough and then listen to "Snoop Doggey Dog"
on the way home.>>
Me:
I believe very little of what I *hear*.
You:
<<The "good ol' .... no I better not say that, I just never think
of my brothers as black ;-).>>
Me:
I hope not, not all of us in the PAW are black.
You:
<<Heresies have "crept in." In the three years I have been saved,
the Holiness Standards, the REAL ones have dwindled so that you
*cannot* get an "amen" when you say that if *you are not baptized
in the name of Jesus Christ*, you are not saved! People sit and
shuffle uncomfortably and mumble about "Spiritual maturity" and
"good people."
Me:
What church are you going to, brother? I baptized a man today, who was
baptized 10 years ago in "Father, Son , and Holy Ghost" titles", because I
preached that you aren't saved unless you're baptized in "Jesus' name". We
got many "AMENS!", the minister sitting next to him showed him the 19th
chapter of the book of Acts during the Altar Call, and he accepted it, no
if's and's , or but's. His wife's tears during his baptism were confirmation
to me that her prayers had been answered. This is the result of a lot of
prayer and witnessing to him about the baptism in Jesus' name. Noe of us ever
spoke to him about "spiritual maturity" or good people. We will, just as soon
as I can find it in the Bible (or perhaps that's it in Matt 7:22).
Matt 7:22-23
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.
(KJV)
I have always been taught as a member of the PAW, that our whole purpose in
"having church" is to get sinners saved. (You know, The Great Comission).
You:
<<I can't think of one person in my assembly including my pastor,
well maybe him now, but only recently, that could explain the
God head to me well enough to let me know what He truly is..>>
Me:
Have them come see my 11 year old. Whatever he can't tell them, I'll be happy
to.
You:
<< This is not all. From **the top** the pressure is on in ever
growing numbers to accept other forms of baptism and to "loosen"
the stand on sin and to preach more about love and not to
mention damnation because it scares people off and we don't want
to do THAT!>>
Me:
Not from the top (God).
You:
<< The only church that will survive is the one where ANY Holy
Ghost filled saint of God can worship in full acceptance of the
congregation REGARDLESS of petty rules and "outward tokens" of
supposed "holiness." This church will look upon the repentant
nature of a man and not his skin or income or background or
"social standing in the church" or his "position."
This church will have ONE STANDARD, *the Bible* as *revealed* by the
manifest presence of God and confirmed by the miracle of
salvation unto life. >>
Me:
"Our Creed, Discipline, Rules of Order and Doctrine is the *Word of God* as
taught and revealed by the Holy Ghost. (St. John 14:26; 1 Cor 2:9-13). 'All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of
God may be perfect , throughly furnished unto all good works.' (2 Tim.
3:16,17).
>From the 1996 minute book of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.
(As far back as I can find records, this has been the position of the PAW
from the beginning of the organization).
If you've found some churches that won't teach sound doctrine (whatever
denomination) , please don't paint all others with a broad brush, or blame
the organizations for pastors, ministers, or preachers who have swayed from
the true doctrine of God, for whatever reasons. The prophecy of the Bible is
just being fulfilled:
2 Tim 4:3-4
3 For the time *will come* when they will *not endure sound doctrine*; but
after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears;
4 And they shall *turn away their ears from the truth*, and shall be turned
unto *fables*.
