A STUDY OF THE TEMPLE
This morning I came to the computer and started a study of the Temple. I
wanted to get some things straight in my mind. I have been told that a
temple is being planned for Jerusalem in the future, in which animal
sacrifices will be offered. Having a searching mind, I wanted to know if it
is borne out in scripture, and if so, what does the scripture say. LOOK WHAT
I HAVE FOUND!
The Bible does, indeed, make provision for a Temple other than the one built
by Solomon. Though it doesn't exactly answer the question I came to the
computer for, it is very interesting.
It is to be built by someone we almost never hear about, at least by the name
used in the Bible. The Bible calls him THE BRANCH. Here is part of what it
says about him. Zechariah 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the
LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name [is] The BRANCH; and he
shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
Zechariah 6:13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear
the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest
upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
This fellow, THE BRANCH must be a real decent sort of man, for the "counsel
of peace" will be his hallmark. Not an evil guy, if my understanding is
correct.
There is no specific building material mentioned for the Temple built by THE
BRANCH, unless--. Unless, that is, the man called THE BRANCH is actually the
LORD JESUS CHRIST. If he IS the LORD JESUS CHRIST, then we have a clue to
follow, and maybe we can identify some boards (cedar or fir) or stones
(jasper, sardonyx etc.).
Jesus was accused of saying, Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this
temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another
made without hands. Ephesians 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed
together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
I Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an
holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, (I couldn't find anything
about bulls and lambs and goats) acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. I Peter
2:9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called
you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and
the Lamb are the temple of it. Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I
make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I
will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God,
[which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I
will write upon him] my new name.
Neither is there a specific geographic location for the building mentioned in
the scripture. It seems to be where the believers are-- all over the world.
All this leaves me with more questions than answers. Especially if we are
being correctly instructed about future events. Can someone tell me what the
facts are, Biblically, about what we are hearing?
