Bro. Aaron:
Tonight, a friend and I were discussing for a short moment on blaspheming
the Holy Ghost.
Me:
Luke 12:10
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be
forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall
not be forgiven.
Mark 3:29
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,
but is in danger of eternal damnation.
<screamed while running FULL tilt and diving head first into a Strong's
concordance> WOOORRRD STTUUUUUDDEEEEE! ;-0

AV - blaspheme 17, speak evil of 10, rail on 2, blasphemer 1,
speak blasphemy 1, blasphemously 1, misc 3; 35
1) to speak reproachfully, rail at, revile, calumniate *(ooo... a new word
for me), blaspheme
2) to be evil spoken of, reviled, railed at

The same word is used in the Greek for both passages. The verb is in this
tense:

5660 Tense - AoristSee 5777Voice - ActiveSee 5784Mood - Participle See
5796Count - 714

Now, although I paid a lot of attention to the English teacher about
sentence structure and means to effectively affect others,
;-) I willfully ignored this verb parsing stuff. 8-( What the Spirit and
the Old Testament and the account of the Pharisees tells me though, is that
this "railing" must be habitual and in the very presence and opposition to
clear miraculous manifestations of God. After a time that only God knows,
He "sets" or "gels" that which is ALREADY in your heart, that through your
demise, His power will be shown.
Romans 9
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing
formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one
vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known,
endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of
mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the
Gentiles?
Anyone who is worried that they have blasphemed the Holy Ghost, hasn't. If
you are in the least bit concerned about pleasing God, you have not been
"hardened" by your constant refusal of the salvation of God and submission
to His purpose in your own right and then "set" in these ways by God to His
greater glory when you "get what is coming to you."
Pharoah-Pharisees. I have never done a word study on these two terms but
in English they SURE seem similar.
Bro. Aaron:
Now, what would a person have to do, what state of mind would the person
have to be in to do such a thing.
Me:
Read about Pharoah.
Also think about the life of anyone who has died without excepting the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ. When Jesus stood before the Sanhedrin the
charge was Blasphemy. When the "damned" stand before God the charge will
be the same. All who die in their sins have hardened their hearts against
the salvation offered by God in the broken flesh of Jesus Christ. Most do
this without ever having to hear the first word of the Gospel. You cannot
do this by accident. It is done by slothfulness, greediness, lustfulness,
wilfullness and other "nesses" but never by accident.
Good to hear from you again Bro!
