Bodily Exercise

Greetings Saints in Jesus Name!

You know, I know of another tradition that really trancends most
all of oneness apostolics. The attitude towards their body.

We get together and eat. When we fellowship, we eat. After
church we go out and eat. When we have saints over, we eat.
Eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat...........

Then we say.... "bodily exercise profiteth little" dismissing the
needed exercise as unnecessary.

I wonder how many non-overweight apostolics there are out there?
And if they are, are they still small because they've not been in
pentecost many years to build up the body's reserve? Or do they
have a really fast metabolism? Or do have some kind of physical
condition that prevents them from gaining weight no matter how much
is consumed.

Look around, if you were to scan across everybody in a fellowship
meeting or a rally, how many of them apostolics are overweight?
What's the percentage? 60, 80, 90, 95% ?

But "bodily exercise profits little" is what we hear. There's all
kinds of reasons given to not exercise. When in fact, if we don't take
care of our own tabernacles, God isn't pleased with our overeating,
gluttony, and lack of tabernacle maintenance. The tabernacle will surely
wear out and then the hospital bills will come if we don't take care of
it. It seems like in all things, there's a stopping point. You can
only grow so far with the Methodists. Only so far with the Presby's.
Only so far with the Baptists. Only so far with the Nazarenes. And
only so far with Oneness Apostolics. We're taught how to grow physically.
But if we can't *decrease* (heh, heh, heh) how can he *increase*. I think
in this sense that Apostolics can only take the saint so far in growth.
Eventually because of this, the spiritual growth will wane as well.

What does that say to someone outside of the church. They come into
the local assembly and feel a wonderful spirit, but most everybody
is larger-than-what-they-should-be-in-life. They then think: "Hmmmmm...
should I go to church here and eventually gain weight and become like
them? Or should I continue seeking elsewhere?"

I think these are real issues that the *body* has to deal with as a
whole in order to continue winning and keeping souls. People outside
of the church aren't dumb. They can put one and one together and realize
they don't want to get *more* plump.... they then decide to not go the
way of the truth, because they see people clad with holy garments but
have evidence of other problems.....

....'nough said.
