Numbers|8:5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Numbers|8:6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and
cleanse them.
Numbers|8:7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle
water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let
them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
Numbers|8:8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering,
even fine flour mingled with oil, and another

Jeremiah|41:5 That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and
from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their
clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in
their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.

In Numbers 8:5-8, in order to be clean so they could do service for the
Lord, the Levites
had to shave all their flesh.
In Jeremiah 41:5 the men which brought offerings to the Lord, had their
beards shaven.

Now I am hoping someone who has more knowledge of the old testament could
shed
some light on this, but I see two examples of men doing work for the
Lord, and being
clean shaven. Not only that, but the Levites had to be shaven in order
to be considered
clean.

What was the importance of having to be shaven to do the Lords work
in these two examples?

Note: I am not implying, or suggesting, only studying. :)
