<< I, too, cringe at the term "charismatic". It does not apply to us at
 all, in my *opinion*!>>

Me:
It is such a shame that so many "churches" have over-used, and misused this
word to the point that we don't want to be associated with it.

Bro.,
I believe that Paul and Peter would have agreed with you.
Paul wrote many times concerning *charisma* and *charismata* (6 times in
Romans, 7 times in 1 Corinthians, once in 2 Corinthians, once in 1 Timothy,
and once in 2 Timothy). Peter referred to *charisma* only once, (1 Peter
4:10).

1 Cor 12:31
31	But *covet earnestly* the best *gifts*: and yet shew I unto you a more
excellent way.

GIFTS, SPIRITUAL

GIFTS, SPIRITUAL (Gk. **charismata**, "gifts of grace"). <snip>
In the technical Pauline sense "gifts" denote *extraordinary powers*
*distinguishing certain Christians* and *enabling* them to *serve* the church
of Christ, the reception of which is *due to* the power of divine grace
operating in their souls by the *Holy Spirit* (12:6; <1 Cor. 1:7; 12:4,31; 1
Pet. 4:10>); specially the sum of those powers requisite for the discharge of
the office of an evangelist <1 Tim. 4:14; 2 Tim 1:6>. The fullest list of
these *charismata*, or spiritual gifts, is given in <1 Cor. 12>.
