Of course it is appropriate. The last time I preached in another's church
without a suit and tie, I wore a clergy (tab-collar) shirt, and a minister's
robe.

I remember a few years back, when the air conditioning had failed, and
members of the United States Congress were not allowed to remove their *suit
jackets*, because it was against long-standing tradition. They really stuck
to their *tradition*, no matter how hot it got.
