People are more honest online

I read today that "Computers have been blasted for leading the
way to impersonalized communications". This may not be entirely
true. Computer networking creates "communities" unlike any known
before.
Although Higher-Fire members may never be in the same room with
each other, we can develop strong working relationships and powerful bonds
of friendship. This shouldn't surprise us as some of the most profound
discussions and greatest friendships have been conducted by people
writing to each other. This happens partly because networking technology
invites people to "speak" more openly and candidly than they might in
ordinary face-to-face circumstances (sometimes, I fear, I get myself into
"hot water" by being too honest and open).
"It is a popular sentiment that the best communication takes place
when people can see and touch each other" That might not necessarily
be so.
Obviously, some occasions arise when physical proximity is necessary,
but face-to-face communication often introduces more "noise" that gets
in the way and imposes limitations on personal expression. Simply
stated, people are generally more timid in front of each other!

It is on this note that I say, "Welcome" to Bro. Budi Darmakusuma
Lewiyanto from Indonesia. I look forward to learning more about your
culture, your church and you. We are so much alike, even in our
diversity! Isn't God great!

(some of the above thoughts have been paraphrased from the book
"Management of the Absurd" by Richard Farson.)
