One thing my husband and I did ourselves was to always work at making
friends with every one new of the faith that came to our church. the next
step was to connect them with another couple in the church. And be bold
about asking the other couple to invite the new to places with them or to
take the new and *the old* out to eat after church to help ease the
transition. NetWorking you might say. I read about this some place: That
every name that is put done on the vistors list is automaticlly assigned to
an established couple in the church. It was the responsablity of that
couple to nurture the new ones until they had bonded with the congragation.
That way even the elders could feel an active part also with the winning of
souls and alive and active for the Lord. (A realy big problem sometimes for
the older, slower ones)......One of the couples we nurtured are now in the
preaching ministry and I will say that I thank GOD for the privialege to
have even been a small part of furthering the gospel. Myy husband makes
this statment often " It is a treasure to be thought a pastors friend and to
just be in a *Helping* ministry.
