Sis. Anne:
> Okay, now don't crucify, but when I used to be trinitarian (Methodist), I
prayed to God, and He heard me. I wouldn't be where I am today if He
hadn't.
Me:
God answers this prayer Sis, no matter who prays it. Many get the wrong
idea about how God handles the prayer of sinners from this verse:
John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of
God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
The key is the word "heareth" which signifies an act of continuation. God
doesn't "consistently" listen to and therefore answer the prayers of
sinners. I have a question for you, not to "crucify" but to get you to
think. ;-) Has God violated any of His own rules if He grants good things
to sinners? OK, now read this:
Matthew 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he
maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the
just and on the unjust.
Many wrongly interpret this to mean that the just must "suffer" along with
the unjust. Think of this though, what do you have when you have no rain?
Famine right? What God is telling us here is that He gives good gifts to
sinners too. God answers "some" prayers of the lost. This is to lead them
to Himself and build their reliance upon Him. Also consider this, if
Marilyn Manson stands in front of ten thousand and prays to his non
existant god that it rain after a year long drought and I pray to the One
True Living God the same prayer, Whose prayer was "answered?" God would
have answered my prayer but allowed Manson to take "credit" for it that the
his cup of abomination, and that of his followers, would be filled.
You:
> Most of my old friends who are trin. don't believe in three gods. They
believe that there is One God with three manifestations. Is that the same
thing as persons?
Me:
Hardly, Sis, you must be mistaken, although I pray you are not. One God
but three manifestations is the Oneness doctrine. I still hope you are
right though, and that this IS what your friends believe!
You:
They deny the belief of believing in three gods. Maybe I'm just confused
(if I am, please clarify for me). I just remember right
before I got into church, I prayed one night and said this "God if
something doesn't change in my life, if this is all there is....then there
isn't any reason for me to even be here.." A week later, a girl from the
UPC church sat down next to me in one of my classes. Two monthes later, I
had the Holy Ghost.
Me:
As I said Sis, this is a prayer God always hears! HALLELUJAH!
You:
> So to say that a trinitarian is praying to someone who isn't there just
doesn't make sense to me. I KNOW that my God heard my cry.
Me:
Question? You were in the trinitarian church thaat preached a trinitarian
god, right? You then pryaed and said "I am dying here and this can't be
the Truth" right? Didn't you in effect pray to a different God than the
one they taught in the Methodest church?
My point is this, if you are praying to a god that is three persons in one
you are praying to something that just doesn't exits. This is a false god
and to "participate" in this worship of a false god is and abomination.
