Dear Anthony,

In the early Church there was no new testiment, so everything there was in
addition to the written word of God that they had then. The early Church to
stands against things and position on things as is recorded in the New
Testiment. As a Pastor and one that God will hold accountable for the
Churches He has put us over as Pastors. God gave us the authority to protect
His sheep, even against threats that didn't exist during their period of
time. We can even preach against any thing that is contrary to sound
doctrine, 1 Tim. 1:10. Its not legalism, this is a spiritual warfare and the
things that we take a stand against are things that threaten us spiritually.
The spiritual side of this life is bigger than the natural side. I don't
think that those that take a stand against some of the things that you are
mentioned are fanatical, I think the ones that don't take a stand against
those things are carnal and lascivious, and need to once again let the Holy
Ghost sanctify there minds. We should never get up set because someone has
enough conviction to preach against worldliness, and if we do that should
tell us something about our spiritually. That is my soapbox.
