This is a tough subject right now with my church. We have had a break into
our community. Over 20 yrs ago one Bible beating UPC abused the pulpit
during a community involvement activity and caused a tremendous breach in
the community. It was just this year, because of the number of UPC Senior
and other UPC kids in the school, that our church (UPC) was asked to host
the first baccalarete in 20 yrs inside of a Church (period). We had a
social afterwards for all the Sr.s and their parents. Our youth group sang
of which noted Sr.s was in. Later the kids, Sr.s and some of our other
youth hung around and played volleyball and did some jamming/singing.
This last week on a 5th Sunday. The youth group was invited to sing
at the local Baptist church. The Pentecostals went and worshiped as
Pentecostals (Our pastor forwarned the audience that we would behave as
Pentecostals [hehehe] and that they were more than welcome to join us in our
activity) !!!Alot did!!!! It was a good healing time.
While today another little freewill baptist singing group ask to
sing for us as a favor for them (story to long). The songs were beatuifully
done. We worshiped God as Pentecostals and He came because of the worship
anyway.
This has made some inroads. The results are yet to be seen. The
reports that are coming back of the wittness done, of the lives being
touched, the hearts that are being opened to the simple message we bring
have slowly be coming in.
I am reminded that it was in the byways that the Lord of the supper
commanded his servants to go and I can't help but feel that as a church body
all those Saturday night prayer meetings are starting to pay off in revivial
for Savoy. But, we do have to go out on a limb to get the fruit some time.
Holiness is still uncompromised and Love is paramount. I would be the first
to holler about something quirky in the pulpit.
I thought about you guys tonight when those three modestly dressed
Baptist women sang on a UPC platform and I felt the Holy Spirit move.
"Lord," I prayed "Keep me sensitive to your Spirits guidence. Because above
all *I* must be saved. Though may I EVER do my part to win some soul for
Thee." Goodnight Ya'll Jesus keep you---Ur SIS Kathy G.
