Humpty Dumpty to talk to me about the dangers of the limelight........

me: Wow Sis, this really hits close to home for me
at the present time. Our little community bank was recently
acquired by a $2.1 billion bank holding company. My former
position of President and CEO was eliminated as was our
bank. I will be the "glorified" branch manager of four offices in
our county (2 from my former bank and 2 from another somewhat
larger community bank that was also acquired). I have been told
that I will receive the "courtesy" title of Area President, but have not
yet been informed as to what my official title at the corporate level is.
So far I have lost about $21,000 annual income from director's fees,
annual bonus and fringes, but PRAISE THE LORD, I still HAVE a job.
Three banking offices will be closed on May 29th and 60 positions are
slated for elimination in this region by June 11th. We are losing 10
positions (of which the majority are officer positions) in our county
alone.

This week, for the first time in 22 years, I went to a job interview.
The Lord opened the door for an interview for the position of President
and CEO at a bank in an adjacent county just 25 minutes from my home.
I have made it through the first "cut" from 18 potential candidates to 6.
The board of directors will now select 2 of the 6 for a final interview.
I have been praying and fasting for the Lord's will. This bank is almost
5 times the size of my former bank and is in serious trouble
with the regulatory authorities. It will be an exciting challenge to turn
it around, but a huge responsibility. On the surface, it is a dream come
true, but things are not ALWAYS as they appear. I told the Lord last night
in prayer that if getting this job would cause me to lose my focus
on Him, to backslide and be lost, then I don't want it. I want to be
saved above all. I don't want to end up as you stated....

> You will become too hard cooked in the heat of the battle
> and be ruined by all the attention that the wall sitters get,
>those in the fore front. You'll dry up and crack and more than likely
>be consumed if not totally fallen.

Please remember me in prayer, and all those who will
soon be without jobs. Corporate greed is an UGLY animal.
