We have been doing a prayer "drive", which is a modification to the walking.
We use "Spiritual Warfare Prayer" by Sis. Judy Doughty and "The Prayer
Journey" by Sis. Fredi Trammell as guides for our praying. Both of these
books are available from the PPH and are EXCELLENT tools. Of all the books
on prayer, these books are actual "prayer tools". They help you stay
focused in your prayer time. I am not knocking any authors of books on
prayer, but if you are like me, and get easily distracted, these books are
priceless! (sounds like I'm biased? ;->)
Since we are a small home missions church, I go with another sister from
the church. We drive through the area where our church's storefront
building is located. This happens to be a residetial area with probably
400 homes. I didn't realize how many were in this area until our first
drive! We kept finding more streets! Praise God! More souls!!!
We begin at the church with a word of prayer and then begin driving slowly
through each street. We read the Word of God (nothing is more powerful!)
We pray for the souls represented in each home. We pray plead the blood of
Jesus over each person; for their protection; for them to be hungry and
thirsty for righteousness; that God would draw them unto Himself and reveal
Himself so that they would be saved. What ever God lays on our hearts!
We do pray against the spirits of the area. I do have a word of caution in
this area. Be very sure that God told you to do this! You do not want to
provoke spirits and draw more attention to them than they deserve. The
home missions division put out a small pamphlet on the prayer walk and
brings this out.
The prayer walk is not to attract attention! You can be just a few walking
or even sitting in a particular place praying for the area. You can drive
around an entire area, such as the outer area of a city or development. I
love coming back from New Jersey over the Delaware Memorial Bridge and see
the view of the city of Wilmington! It is such a beautiful site! At the
same time, so many souls crying out for Him. Lord, send forth more
laborers!!!!!
Remember what the purpose of Jesus ministry is:
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.(KJV)
These are good verses to remember when we pray for these souls.
We have not seen a great multitude come in as of this writing. We can feel
that the strongholds of satan are coming down. God said:
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall
not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and
it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.(KJV)
When we pray His Word, we cannot fail! Amen!

Sis. Wendy Horn
