If you get a chance to attend one of the UPC Church Growth seminars, you
will see the use of a laptop and Powerpoint in the greatest visual
experience I have ever seen. I saw this at Gaithersburg, and the use of a
laptop for song service in addition to the overhead was equally awe
inspiring. (Have you ever had the LAST bulb blow just before service?) I
was privileged to attend one of the "moderate" UPC churches some 15 years
ago. My first thought was "These people have gone Charismatic" This was
not true, just the worship was lively and the people friendly. The
experience of others cannot be done away with. We sit back and have
visitors that are bored stiff. When we upgraded our sound system, the
remark was made that the average visitor has better sound in their cars.
How sadly true. And they have surround sound TV's and The best Multimedia
computers. And when they come, the congregation sits.
Time to Worship in Spirit and Truth!
Ok on re-reading it looks strong still, but it is sadly true.
