Just wondering...anybody that's been on the list a while now...
remember all the holiness threads? Simply, I'm about sick of them,
but I will not comprimise MY beliefs. Mind you, they are my beliefs,
not anyone else's. In fact, our church has no problem with ANYONE
that "doesn't comply" to what the agreed upon "basic standards" are.
However, our newbie class has presented them, and I don't remember a
one who hasn't changed his appearance. When I ask them why, it is
always backed up with a sound scriptural foundation and a strong love
for and a desire to do everything to please the Lord. Some women say
they won't wear shorts or jeans, others don't mind wearing shorts on
casual occasions with the family. Point is, we aren't a Hasidic Jew
Community with an almost list of standards. However, we are an
Apostolic (seems that word is deteriorating on this list) people that
believes we should do anything that we can to please God, to allow
Him to work with us. Holiness is required for salvation, for without
holiness, no one can see God. Men and Women cross-dressing is an
ABOMINATION (notice the fierceness in that word) unto our Lord.
Christ came to save us. He can't force us into a mold of a good
little Apostolic person. However, He has provided the word of God to
be our light. I remember all of the "conviction" posts. For example:
"My conviction says that it is fine for me to wear shorts, bikinis,
bathing 'suits (I would call them 1 yard of fabric for covering)"
But the simple fact is, the Bible says that your heart is deceitful.
Your "convictions of the heart" are nothing unless they are not
challenged in the Bible. God isn't going to speak to you in an
audible voice and spell out EXACTLY what you are to wear each day.
God has provided the Bible for you to study, a pastor with which to
consult, and loving brothers and sisters to support you in your good
and bad descisions and to pray for you either way. As we enter the
emfamous holiness threads, I can only say one thing. Let's let some
brothers and sisters come out with a shred of SOMETHING left. ok,
you can play "Crusades".

I affirm the biblical foundation for a relationship with God: We are
to turn away from doing wrong, be baptized in the name of Jesus in
accordance with scriptural examples, receive the marvelous gift of
the Holy Spirit, and embrace a daily walk with Him. (See Acts 2:38)
