I hardly think that being insulted or offended by the posting of a joke or
jest that is unchristian in nature would constitute being "blown about" and
that your use of that scripture to apply it to the sisters remark would be
a case of twisting and wrestling of scripture on your part, (AS it was
certainly NOT doctrine that was being discussed.)
The bible clearly states Gods positon on Foolish jesting.
Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not
be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Note in your study of Gods word that we see no "books" in the bible titled,
"Jokes of the Apostles". Nor do we read of their "pranks upon one another".
The closest you will come is in Jesus telling parables.... with a moral to
the story but certainly never just in "jest".
And Though I understand it was a accident...
and the sister also indicated her forgiveness,
Bro. Tyler also must take care that he exercises great diligence in that
whatever he does post.
Especially... in the way of humor as it does reflect upon him, this list ,
and apostolics as a whole (being that it is archived).
It certainly does not speak well of us before the world to engage in the
spreading of "racy" remarks, off color humor and jokes with bad language.
Though I hold no grudge toward Brother Tyler... I also do not condemn the
sister for voicing her objection. For we as children of God are supposed to
judge the behaviour of others as christians among ourselves.
And because I know this will cause a flurry.......here is the scripture.
1 Cor 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the
world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1 Cor 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that
pertain to this life?
1 Cor 6:4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set
them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
1 Cor 6:5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man
among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
So Bro. Dave, PLEASE........"Chill out."
You are offended by "other things, and have been very vocal here in the
past as well.
We all have our "weaknesses."
And Brother Tyler, You are forgiven for your accidental "lapse".
I am not against you posting humor ... just think that it should be very
carefully examined first. (I too have had "accidents" using programs that
had stuff programmed into it that I never knew until it was too late.
So I do understand.
But lets not let our guard down on what we can prevent.
God Bless.
