Last week, my wife was teaching her Sunday school class of 8,9 and 10 year
olds about what happened on that day so along ago. For her visual aides she
brought a hammer and 16 penny nail to class. She told of the pain that
Christ endured as they prepared him for the cross and the agony as the nails
where driven into his hands. The kids where steadfast in their attention on
the story. She then ask if they love each other and ofcourse the reply was
"NA" as the boys and girls looked at each other. She asked "don't you love
each other enough to want to see the others go to heaven" YES was the answer
she got. She ask if there would be any who would allow the nail to be driven
into their hand to prove their love, she expecting no takers, was surprised
that one little boy said he would. He came to the front of the class, put
his hand down on the table, turning his head away from the event, closed his
eyes and with a cringe on his face said "I'm Ready!" This was the second
time this child had ever come. The class where strangers to him.
Now that's love!!
Christ did exactly that when in the garden, "I'm ready", for who, you and
me.
Now that's love!!
