Anneliese,

Thank the Lord that you weren't hurt worse than you were in the
accident. The exact same thing happened to my wife a few years ago. The
best thing you can do for yourself is get a lawyer!!! The insurance
companies have expert lawyers working as hard as they can to make sure you
get as little money as possible. ( Your own provider included!) They will
do their best to trick you into a settlement. Don't fall for it. These are
not honest individuals with your best interests in mind. Their only concern
is how to sell more policies and pay out as little as they can. After all,
that's what the insurance game is all about. And don't second guess your
body. You may think you'll be fine now only to find out later that you've
injured yourself far worse that you judged and the insurance companies will
be off the hook if you settle. See a lawyer and he will refer you to the
proper medical officials, usually at no cost to you. The money you will
recieve through a lawyer will be about ten times more than the insurance
company will pay you. The insurance company wanted my wife to accept $3,000
cash to settle. That sounds like a lot when you're scraping along barely
able to pay your bills; it's very tempting too. She opted to use a lawyer
though and in the end cleared over $30,000!! ( By the way our church got
$3,000 of that money and it was put to very good use!) Anyway the bottom
line is get legal help, you will not regret it. In the mean time we'll be
praying for you.
