I personally think that, and this might be an unpopular statement,
it's the *sin* that people still hide in their heart the thing 
they can't control.  So, instead of controlling the sin condition
and lusts of their heart, they control the items of life that have 
been labeled as *sin* that they might think they have the upper 
hand and give the appearance they are an *overcommer*.

So, let me see if I understand you.  If God has indeed delivered me from
alcohol for instance and someone offers me a beer, I'll refuse it not
because I just want to follow some silly man made RULES about the church's
image but will refuse because I have overcome in Christ Jesus and REALLY
DON'T WANT ONE.  

OK, OK, I think I'm on a roll here...   If then I am truly offended by what
is on TV I won't watch all the filth an smut and if I should by chance even
be in someones house that has this trash on, I will sit and watch with
disdain or even get up to leave the room or find 'openings' to critique the
baseness of the program.  

Oh, oh, then it really is a matter of overcoming my own lust so that I will
not be drawn away and enticed and snared....  

Let me tell ya something.  I can sit in a room full of smokers and not
desire a cigarette.  I can be offered free beer day in and day out and not
want one.  I have a TV but it stays off most of the time (days on end,
weeks sometimes ;-) because there is not much that interests me.  If you
can't have a TV wihtout watching the filth, get rid of it but more
importantly, seek the Lord and find out why there is this weakness in you
life.  

When I am at friends houses and they have the shows with the sex pots
flashing themselves all over the screen, I avert my eyes or leave the room.
 I have been known to sit and say loudly "That woman REALLY needs to get
some clothes on!"  You have no idea what an effect this has on people.  

Now, on to a deeper issue....

To those whom have stated that the Holy Ghost has MANDATED TVs to be
removed from ever saint's house everywhere, I have a question:

Just how did God reaveal this to you and what was the EXACT mandate?
