 Skip:
 The purpose of advertising is to change/influence purchasing habits
 regardless of media.  Do you remember any catchy jingles, just the audio? 
 The idea is to saturate the mind w/ the product.  Have the add played as
 many times as possible, more, more, more, and still more.
  Mike:
 Wow, I can't believe you still didn't get my point. My point is that as
advertising  through the medium TV  affects people, so does the programming.
As proof of it's ability to affect people, I illustrated the amount of money
advertisers spend for just 30 seconds of advertising.

Skip:
 It isn't a comparison game.  It is the extension of your reasoning.  If x
== y and z > x then z > y.  

Mike:
 I understand the formula Skip. You seem to ignore that I want you to address
x not y and certainly not whatever you think z postulates to.      x=TV
