  REGARDING John 6:62

Praise the Lord,

I was poking through the book of John yesterday, and couldn't resolve
something. I would appreciate some help.

Joh 6:60 śMany therefore of his disciples, when they had heard [this],
said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself
that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 [What] and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I
speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

I think of the Son of man being the earthly, fleshly, and bodily component
of Jesus Christ. This is His heritage as drawn from His mother. In other
words, His "personhood."

In fact, the margin notes of my Thompson Chain Reference say
"pre-Existence of Christ." I know that Christ only pre-existed in the sense
that His spirit was that of the father.

The dilemma then, is how could Jesus Himself ask "what if you see
'my personhood' (so to speak) return to heaven where I was before?"

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Plus, if you could cc my address
as I get the digest, and I'd like to see the answer to this as soon as I
can rather than tomorrow. This is getting to me... :-)
