racial divisions in Pentecost

Lisa,

Sad to say, racism is prevelant in all areas of life,
even the church. There is hope though....
I wrote awhile back on higher-fire regarding racial
relations here in central Indiana. Indianapolis
seemed to be a stop for many African Americans
when they were forced out of the South by the
demon of racism. As the South slowly begin to open
its doors to all ethnic backgrounds, many chose to stay
where they had already begin building their life.

Here we are in the 90's. Racism is still very visible in
every corner of America....however, like I stated earlier,
there is hope! MLK had a dream, and I am happy to say
that that at least in the Apostolic churches in Indianapolis,
it is beginning to take form.

This coming Pentecost Sunday, once again will be a open
Pentecost Sunday service in downtown Indianapolis, with
preaching from ALJC, UPCI, PAW, Independants, etc. The
mass choir will be assembled, which was led by Lindel Anderson
from Calvary Tabernacle(UPCI), and Daniel Golder(PAW) last
year. Emphasis is placed on unity of Apostolics no matter what
color. The most impacting moment of the last meeting that has
forever touched me was when Bishop Golder and Bro Mooney
asked blacks and whites to join hands, sing together, and pray for
each other. What a time in the Lord!

Another example, the IBC songfest last year, with two PAW
choirs singing in it. This year, Bishop Golders choir will once
again be singing.

In the church I attend(UPCI), in the last 12 months, we have had
a visit from the Brazil, IN(PAW) pastor and assistant to our
Sunday night service, and a saint from Zion Tabernacle(PAW)
preach for us.

As for fellowship...We are working on fellowship with
3 PAW churches in the area. We also have fellowship
with a independant Apostolic church, and a ALJC church.

A friend of mine from IBC says many of the students frequently
visit and fellowship with the area PAW churches. IBC also has
a great video out from last year, with I believe it is Bishop Golder
or Bishop Tyson, sitting down with Bro Mooney and Bro Urshan.
They discuss various topics, and trace the Apostolic history.

Since this is Black history month, I have been hearing a lot of
things on the radio station I listen to. During commercial
breaks, they would give history tid-bits. I began to trace
some history in my mind of the well known name of
GT Hayewood. A true pioneer of the Apostoic movement.
His grave sight is located right here in Indianapolis at Crowne
Hill cemetary, which I plan on visting soon. I am told, it
is a moving experience to go to his grave, which just happens
to sit upon the highest point of Indianapolis, overlookng the
whole city.

There will always be racist devils in this world. There will
always be some within the churches. What can we do?
For starters, we can educate the youth. Most of all
though, push for unity.....when I say push...I mean...
Pray Until Something Happens.

Lisa.....there is still hope ;-)
