I am sad to report that Bro. Rick Wehledge died at approximately
2 pm this afternoon. He had been totally unconscious for 24 to
48 before his death. Sorry to be the bearer of painful news.
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."
(Psalms 116:15)
Bro. Wehledge was a true man of God. I am not exactly sure how
many years he lived although I would guess that he was in his
late 40s or early 50s. His home church and was Parkview
Apostolic Church, Muncie, IN but he has attended the UPC church
in Noblesville, IN for the past couple of years (when not
evangelizing) to help with the work of his son-in-law and
daughter who pastor there. From my recollection of his
testimony, he was well into his adult years and already had a
family when he first found the Lord and received the new birth
experience. He was still a very new convert when the Lord called
him to the ministry. He eventually left a very good job to
become a full time evangelist. Many of you may know him because
he and his wife evangelized all over the country including at
many UPC district camps. He was probably most noted for the
Children's Crusades that he and his wife conducted. Not only
children were attracted to this man's ministry, however. Bro.
Wehledge could preach the house down. His deep and knowledge and
understanding of God's Word was evident. Despite many battles of
the past few years (he lost a grand-daughter and had serious
problems with his voice) he preached faith relentlessly.
Pentecost has lost one of it's finest.
Please remember Sis. Wehledge and the rest of the family in your
prayers.
God speed,
Kirk
